John Samels (PAPER TIGER) is a New York-based electronic music composer and founding member of the Doomtree hip hop collective. His music has been featured on Billboard Top 200 albums, film, television and performed by the Grammy winning Minnesota Orchestra. Pitchfork describes his sound as “crisp drums, excellent production and interesting mixes”.

Samels' compositions include the original score for HBO’s Rock in a Hard Place and BBC Radio 4’s The New Gurus podcast, along with brand collaborations such as Nike, The New Yorker, and Beats By Dre. As a live DJ and producer he has toured internationally, including performances at Glastonbury, Lalapalooza, SXSW, X–Games, and Riot Fest.

John Samels is a New York City-based Creative Director and Graphic Designer with 20+ years of experience leading projects from concept to execution. Specializing in brand campaigns, branding and photo/video art direction. John is a collaborative leader who excels at articulating visual language and solving design problems. Currently Creative Director at Colossal Media—the world's largest hand-painted outdoor media company.

He has worked with many NYC-based agencies and brands, from small boutique shops to some of the largest agencies and companies on the planet with a focus in the fields of music, hospitality, entertainment and campaigns for culture-forward brands.
